Volunteer

You are invited to join our growing group of dedicated volunteers! By sharing your time and talent with us, you can make a big difference in the quality of library services in our community. Our volunteers range in age from 13 to 80. Some do short-term projects, and some have been here since the volunteer program started in 1995. Volunteers work side by side with staff in many library activities. Typical volunteer tasks include:

  • dusting bookshelves
  • assisting with circulation tasks
  • sorting through gift materials
  • searching for books
  • shelf-reading
  • assisting with children's programs
  • preparing craft materials
  • preparing book donations for Virginia Baptist Hospital
  • computer data entry
  • helping patrons in the computer lab

If you need more information or would like to volunteer, please call our Volunteer Coordinator, Amy Arranga at 434-455-6306. You can fill out an application online or download a print copy and return it to the Main Library at 2315 Memorial Ave.
